Spring is the season of renewal, and what better way to celebrate love than with a wedding bursting with vibrant, pastel blooms? At Alila Marea Beach Resort, a stunning coastal venue in San Diego, one of our recent weddings there embraced the beauty of spring with an exquisite display of foam-free floral artistry. This unforgettable event was a true testament to the transformative power of sustainable floral design.
The color palette for this wedding was a springtime dream: soft blush pinks, peaches, and lavenders, buttery yellows, pale blues, and gentle greens. These pastel tones added a sense of lightness and joy to the event, perfectly complementing the coastal setting and the season.
What made this wedding even more special was its commitment to sustainability. All floral arrangements were created without the use of floral foam, a significant step toward reducing waste in the floral industry. This eco-friendly approach demonstrated that stunning, over-the-top designs can still be achieved while respecting the planet.
As guests arrived at the ceremony space, they were greeted by a breathtaking sight: a large, over-the-top floral arch framing the serene ocean backdrop. This foam-free masterpiece featured an enchanting mix of spring pastels, including soft blush and peach roses, buttercream butterfly ranunculus, powder blue tweedia and delphiniums, and pops of lavender lisianthus and stock flower to name a few. The arch’s organic and whimsical design fit perfectly framing the venue’s surrounding ocean views.
Before bringing this stunning arch to life, we collaborated closely with the couple to create a digital mock-up of the design. This allowed them to visualize the final look and ensure every detail aligned with their vision. The results? Pretty spot on! Just look at the video below – a true reflection of the mock-up.
The aisle was transformed into a meadow of blooms, creating a romantic pathway for the couple. Low, lush arrangements spilled over the ground, echoing the colors and textures of the arch. Guests couldn’t help but snap photos of the dreamy, foam-free arrangements as they found their seats. The meadow design added a layer of intimacy and charm to the ceremony, making it feel like stepping into a fairytale.
The reception continued the floral magic with another show-stopping installation: a sweetheart table arch that rivaled the grandeur of the ceremony. This foam-free design was equally lush, featuring cascading florals and greenery that framed the couple beautifully. The arch served as the focal point of the reception, drawing guests’ attention and creating a picture-perfect moment for the couple’s first dinner as newlyweds.
No detail was overlooked in this colorful spring celebration. Fun accent pieces adorned the bar areas and escort display, adding a touch of whimsy and tying the floral theme together. We repurposed the ceremony aisle to in front of the stage to balance out the room with flowers. These designs brought joy and life to every corner of the event.
